It has what's called a vehicle speed sensor on the transmission. If you stand on the drivers side and lean in by the firewall, you should be able to see it. It's located on a flat spot on the tranny and is kind of a pain to get to. These rarely go bad and if you're speedometer has quit or gotten where it works sometimes and then not showing the actual speed you're going (like mine did) you need to replace the cluster and not the sensor. I just replaced the one in mine and it was very simple to do. There's only 6 screws and three wire connectors involved. I found one on e-bay motors for $40 plus shipping. After I found it and bought it, I found another one that was $30. If you go to the dealer for a new one, it's $389 plus tax. Think about it. So what if the replacement has more mileage on it than your current one. Just make a note in your repair and maintenance book and go from there.
A 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee does not have a speedometer cable. The speedometer signal comes from a sensor on the transmission or transfer case.
There is no cable....It's all done with a sensor and electronics.
It does not have a speedometer cable. The system is all electronic. There is a sensor at the passenger axle output housing of the transmission. It does not have a speedometer cable. The system is all electronic. There is a sensor at the passenger axle output housing of the transmission.
its electronic, there is no cable
DEPENDS ON WHAT YEAR. ON THE 1993 EDDIE BAUER 4WD - THE SPEED SENSOR IS PART OF THE SPEEDOMETER CABLE. THE SPEEDOMETER DRIVE GEAR GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION DRIVEN GEAR (INSIDE TRANNY). THE SENSOR HAS AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION THAT JUST PLUGS IN AT THE TOP.
The cable that controls the speedometer needs to be replaced more than likely. That is what had to be done to a Dodge Stealth's speedometer to work properly. ==New Answer == Actually - there is no speedometer/odometer cable on a 1993 Honda. The system is all-electrical. So it has to be either a bad wiring harness/plug connector, OR a bad speedometer head (unlikely).
The speed sensor is located in the speedometer assembly, at the back of where the speedometer needle connects.

Most likely speedometer cable
Yes, it does
Probably the speed sensor on the transmission.
there is no cable its a speed sensor and is located on the back side of the tranmission u can see it and get to it by removing the rubber intake tube running from the breather bax to the intake manifold
