How and where do you refill the refrigerant on a 22L 97 Pontiac Sunfire and could this be the problem if the AC is blowing hot air?

Most Sunfires have a 'valve' on the A/C unit that you use to fill the unit with refrigerant. I say valve because it looks like a valve, but really its more of a nozzle. All vehicles from the mid to late 90's and on are forced by law to use only R-134a refrigerant. How much refrigerant your cars unit holds can be determined by finding the refrigerant charge label under your hood. It should be located near or above your A/C unit. The easiest way to ensure no mistakes or damages to your unit is to get a professional A/C fill. But the cheapest way is to buy a can of refrigerant (you can find these at most auto stores and even Wal-Mart) and follow the instructions given in the box. It will show you step by step how to add the refrigerant to your unit.

Where is the valve to fill with freon on a jeep 1993 Cherokee?

How do you add freon to 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited?

A 2000 vehicle will use R-134A refrigerant. They make adaptors to inject cans of refrigerant directly in to your system. This is not a good way to do it though. Your system is designed to hold a very specific amount of refrigerant. You should have your system filled by a trained person with the proper gauges, scales, etc... to ensure the right amount of refrigerant is used. A good repair person will also use a vacuum pump to determine if there are any leaks in the system. This is all equipment that is very expensive. This makes filling your A/C system impractical to do at home. You should probably bring it in to a service shop.

Where do you put freon in on 1995 Jeep Cherokee?

charging ac 97 jeep grand cherokeeAddendum: Be advised that it is a closed system and need for recharging signals leaks at seals and/or components, e.g. evaporator.**********************************************************Hello, I just recharged mine last year because it doesnt seem to get as cold as it did a couple of years ago when we first bought it. After recharging the air did not seem to be extremely cold as we thought it would be. on extremely hot days it seems like no end to getting the inside to get real cold. Ok first go to the parts store and buy a kit that has the hose with a gage on it and 2 lines coming from it. the kit should come with the refrigerant in it. The gauge has four colors on it. red= danger, yellow=overcharge, blue=just right, green=needs charging.a small pamplet should come with better description.Lift your hood on 97 jeep grand cherokee, look to the left side near condensor there will be a ac line silver small diameter, there will be a blue cap to unscrew. this will be the place where freon will go in.now back to gauge. take 134a refrigerant can and at one end of gauge unscrew vavle out. connect can to this end and screw valve completely shut and it will pierce freon can and open it.before connecting hose to ac line leave valve shut with no freon can attached and check ac line with your gauge be sure ac inside vehicle is running wide open to get proper reading on gauge. add freon if needed. instructions tell you not to overcharge system that it is dangerous. if you get a reading in red zone or above blue zone and air is not cold you need to take to dealer and have them test your system. if freon needs to be added follow above steps attach hose to ac line where i stated, then unscrew valve and watch gauge and do not overcharge ac. when you have proper reading on guage close valve and remove guage.please be extremely careful.

1998 jeep Cherokee Laredo 4 L it will turn over but not start when turning over there is a knocking noise like a piston is hitting something recently replaced timing chain and gears What is wrong?

You may have gotten the valve timing wrong. If a valve is open when the piston is at TDC it may hit it, doing considerable damage.

Is the PCV valve on a 98 Chevy Prizm where you add freon?

The PCV,Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve is to keep down crankcase pressure by way of venting the engine. Freon is the refrigerant that allows an air conditioner to cool properly. There is not any connection between the two.

Where do I put the freon in on a 99 S10 2.2?

First off, the refrigerant is not Freon, it is R134. If it needs refrigerant, then you have a leak. It is illegal to add refrigerant to a system without repairing the leak. You also more than likely do not have the specialized tools necessary to repair or to charge the system correctly. Take it to a professional.

Where can you find a diagram for installing freon for ford Taurus?

The valve for adding freon/refrigerant is located on the left/passenger side if you are looking at the engine. It is a small tube with a cap on it almost underneath the windshield panel and set a little bit down. In order to add the freon/refrigerant (134A) you need the proper hose with a gauge. These are sold at any major auto parts store. I install my own freon/refrigerant. You simply connect the screw down part of the hose to the can, then the pull/release attachment to the intake valve. Then you screw down the "needle" and then unscrew to release the freon. The engine needs to be running when you do this and the AC on high. Place the can of freon/refrigerant upright and wait a few minutes and shake the can. Repeat until the can is no longer cold and then remove the hose from the intake valve and then unscrew the can holding it away from you because there could still be some pressure. I am not a mechanic, but I have done this numerous times. More than likely a reputable auto parts store can also give you direction.

How do you add refrigerant to a 1999 Cadillac DeVille?

Find the low side ac port on the 1999 DeVille and connect an ac gauge and freon tank. Start the engine, turn the ac on high, and open the freon valve. Let the freon flow until the gauge reads full.

Where do you add freon on a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Freon is no longer sold and available for use in vehicles, as it is extremely toxic and bad for the ozone layer. However, if you buy the currently available and used refrigerant for your car, you open the A/C valve and put it in there.

When you change a home air conditioning value do you have to drain all of the freon?

That would depend on where in the system the valve is. In many instances you can pump down the unit so all of the refrigerant is in the condenser and change a valve that is on the low side of the system or indoors.

How do you put freon in a 2000 Oldsmobile alero?

Number one rule with refrigerant is, "If you have to add it, you have a leak." Auto refrigerant is sold in pressurized cans and, to my knowledge, requires certification to purchase and use. There will be a port with a cap on the line coming out of the top of the compressor. Screwing the can on will fill it, but overcharging will reduce the cooling power of the refrigerant. You can buy it at any auto store. Even Walmart carries it. No need for a cert.

Why does my Air conditioner starts by blowing cold air then warm air?

Low on freon, a weak compressor, or a restriction in your metering device.
