The antenna is in the middle of the roll bar by the sound bar. It faces up and the wire will run down the roll bar and under the carpet to the dash and then to the radio. In 07 the antenna is in the middle of the dash and under the coin area. This doesn't seem to work as ell as the mount on the top of the center roll bar in the 06 models

Try This : Install a bigger, firmer aftermarket anti-roll bar. I have not yet done it to mine (2000) - but I hear of good results.
The big difference between the two is that the 97 has the sound bar, if the top doesn't allow for that it will be fine, if so, you will have some extra material there.
Use the adjustment bar between the top bows
