I believe the 2.3 liter DOHC 4 cylinder engine in your 2003 Ford Ranger has a TIMING CHAIN
Do you really need to change your timing CHAIN on a 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0 L already ? How many miles have you got on it ?=)
it should fit as they both have the same engine but is it manual or automatic
According to the 2003 Ford Ranger Owner Guide : ( Motorcraft MERCON - V , automatic transmission fluid is used in the automatic transmissions with all engine sizes ) * the type used is indicated either on the automatic transmission fluid dipstick handle , or it is engraved into the automatic transmission fluid level dipstick *
The 2003 Ford Ranger uses a chain.
Actually , it has a TIMING CHAIN
No, it's a timing chain and I've not heard of them failing. There does seem to be some disagreement if it's an interference or non-interference engine--i.e. will you destroy the valve train if the chain breaks while it's running.
On a 2003 Ford Ranger : The 2.3 litre Dual Over Head Cam four cylinder engine , and the V6 engine(s) use a timing chain ( or chains ) If you mean the timing chain cover is leaking oil , that should be repaired ( P.S. I'm not a mechanic / technician )
