You don't backwash a cartridge filter. To give them a quick cleaning you can take the cartridges out and hose them off to remove surface dirt and some algae. To give them a full cleaning you should get a pool cartridge degreaser and first clean them as above then soak them in the degreaser as per it's instructions.
