Yes. Just as humans need clean and uncontaminated air to live in and breathe, all fish need clean and uncontaminated water to live in and breathe too. The purpose/use of a filter is required to remove the natural poisons from the water that all fish make simply by living, eating, pooing and breathing in the water. If you could give the fish a constant flow of pure, clean, unadulterated water, then there would be no need for filters.
The Violet Gobi is a brackish water fish (almost marine), and the Kissing Gourami is a tropical fresh water fish. They each need completely different water conditions and parameters. The conditions that would suit one, would kill the other.
A gourami is a type of freshwater fish from Asia. They have a lifespan of about 4 years, and come in different varieties.
No. Kissing Fish, aka Kissing Gouramis, are large growing (around 12") highly territorial tropical fish. The lip locking they do is actually them fighting, nothing cute about it! For a single Kissing Gourami you need at least a 75 gallon tank. Goldfish are large growing, very messy coldwater fish. They should not be kept with tropical fish at all. For 4 Goldfish you need a minimum of a 55-75 gallon tank while they're juveniles, over 100 gallons when they're adults. And they should grow very fast.
If you give a bit of information about the tank and the water parameters someone may be able to help you more. All I can do at this stage is say what they need and then you will have to see if that is what yours is getting. A reasonable sized tank (15gals minimum) because Kissing gourami (Helostoma temminicki), although they are air breathing Anabantids also breath with their gills and will grow to about 12" long. Water temperature around 73F to 76F. A cycled filter to keep the water clean and liveable. Regular feeding with some kind of algae rich fish food.
There are no problems about it. remember that you have to have at least 20 gallon tank, because your gourami and shrimp will need to have space. You may also visit recent website that I built for freshwater fish at : http://aquatropicalfish.com http://aquatropicalfish.com/forum/index.php
Because they have to find food and find materials they need to survive with but u can't do all that if u are kissing another fish, can u?
A gourami needs the same water as any other tropical fish. Warmish water (21-25 degrees celsius) with a few drops of water conditioner, depending on the size of the tank.
When its dirty you need to change the filter.
ALL fish need filtration.
No, they need air, filtrtion and regulated temperature. Not many fish can be kept in bowls.
Kissing Gouramis grow to over 12 inches long and so should never be in a tank as small as 10 gallons. The basic rules of fishkeeping are :- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs at least 50% of its water replaced every week. Provided you stick to the above rules, keep the fish at the correct temperature for their species, and feed them properly your fish stand a good chance of survival. Fail in any and I can guarantee that your fish will be constantly getting sick. Goldfish are coldwater fish and need their water below 70F. All gouramis are tropical fish and need their water around 78F so goldfish should not be kept with tropicals.
Food... Water... And a filter...
