Yes. Just as humans need clean and uncontaminated air to live in and breathe, all fish need clean and uncontaminated water to live in and breathe too. The purpose/use of a filter is required to remove the natural poisons from the water that all fish make simply by living, eating, pooing and breathing in the water. If you could give the fish a constant flow of pure, clean, unadulterated water, then there would be no need for filters.

The Violet Gobi is a brackish water fish (almost marine), and the Kissing Gourami is a tropical fresh water fish. They each need completely different water conditions and parameters. The conditions that would suit one, would kill the other.

For 4 Goldfish you need a minimum of a 55-75 gallon tank while they're juveniles, over 100 gallons when they're adults. And they should grow very fast.

A reasonable sized tank (15gals minimum) because Kissing gourami (Helostoma temminicki), although they are air breathing Anabantids also breath with their gills and will grow to about 12" long. Water temperature around 73F to 76F. A cycled filter to keep the water clean and liveable. Regular feeding with some kind of algae rich fish food.
