Actually, some older model sim cards were found to have a vulnerability once 3G hit the air. As the sim hands off connection back and forth between 2G and 3G coverage, it runs through a finite number of possible connections. While this finite number is something akin to 999999, over the course of time-depending on your phone , coverage area, and movement throughout coverage, an older sim can effectively burn itself out.
