As of 28 July 2008, no, US citizens do not need a visa to visit the Dominican Republic. But always check with the Dominican Consulate or a reputable travel agent before your departure to confirm that policies have not changed.

Whether you can visit the Dominican Republic without a visa depends, in part, on what country you are visiting from.

A Consulate of the Dominican Republic in your country will probably have that kind of information available on its website.
