the oil pump won't make the noise but if it is bad the rods and valves may knock This could be your problem and how to check it out. Check to the Dip stick to make sure you have oil in the engine, if there is oil in the engine, then read below. I have Had the same problem with my truck. Unfortuanly it was not the oil pump. The connecting bearing spun in the engine, until it was small metal chips, then they get suck into the oil pumps screen, and you loose oil pressure or have pressure when motor starts for a few second's, the engine makes a knocking sound and does not run smooth at all. How to check if it is a spun bearing very simple dran the oil out of your truck Check the Bolt that you took out of the oil pan and see if there are small metal flaks stuck to it, also look up in the oil pan bolt hole to see if you see large metal pieces there. What can cause this problem is a long time between oil changes, that is what happend to me.
If the oil light is working and is off with engine running, then you have oil pressure. To determine how much pressure, you need a pressure Gage.
If it is not working you have no oil pressure and the oil light will come on or the oil pressure gauge will drop to 0. You will also hear engine noise, as in, pecking, or knocking. Engine will also overheat very quickly.
Get a T10 screw bit to undo the two screws that are in the cover; then just pull off the cover and twist the bulb holder.
It is used to cover the inner working electronics while holding up the light bulb.
Bad or broken bulb OR bad seal to cover that protects the bulb.
On the inside of the trunk where the light comes through, you'll find 4 big round plastic nuts that you unscrew. The whole light unit comes out once those are removed.
The rod knocking is caused by loss of oil pressure. Did the oil light not come on? That light is red, red means stop. Do not start this engine again until the problem is corrected. You are probably looking at way more than just installing a new oil pump if the engine was run for very long without oil pressure. A complete overhaul may be in order.
I just replaced the entire tail light housing. open trunk theres I think 4 nuts to unscrew and the whole thing pops out ,you have to unplug the wires. I got the entire housing for like 15 bucks on ebay. took about 4 minutes to change it out. If I remember correctly the red plasitic light cover is just glued onto the light housing if you just want to replace the red cover. probably still want to pull the whole thing out first though.
Check
olly murs
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
You can remove the rear light cover on your Peugeot 607 by squeezing the tabs located in the middle of the light cover together. Once the tabs are depressed the light cover should come off.
