They won't... you're talking about two very different vehicles. The 2004 Trailblazer was its own vehicle... the 2001 Trailblazer was nothing more than a trim package for the Chevrolet Blazer.
Go to your favorite auto parts store web site and look up the fuel pumps for both vehicles. If the part number matches you're good to go.

If your Chevy trailblazer 2004 gauges are not working, check your fuel pump.
it is located in the fuel tank
If the air vents of the Chevy trailblazer 2004 are not blowing air, have the fuel pump checked.
What happens is you have a new fuel filter in place.
how do i replace the fuel filter on a trailblazer 2007
It was in front of the fuel tank up to 2004. On Later models it was placed inside the tank. I know, that sucks!
In 2004 Chevy moved the fuel filter from the drivers side frame rail and put it inside of the fuel tank. NOT KIDDING Keep in mind that a filter built into the pump is no longer considered a maintenance item.
In the fuel tank
The engine of a Chevy Trailblazer may begin shaking when idle if there is insufficient fuel reaching it. This can be caused by a clogged fuel filter or dirty fuel injectors.
