I had this problem with my 1998 Diamante. It drove me crazy!!! Firstly, does the water seem to get in mostly when the car is parked on a downward angle? I realised that my driver's-side footwell would get flooded if I left my Diamante facing downhill during a heavy shower. The problem went away when I parked the car facing uphill. Naturally, I was still concerned as to what had been causing my car to flood. When the car is parked facing downhill, you get much more rain water running across the roof and down the front windscreen. If you look at the base of the windscreen, you will see that all of this water runs into the vents at the top of the bonnet. The water is then supposed to drain harmlessly out to the side of the car. However, in my car, I found that these channels had become blocked. There was a large tree near my house that dropped a lot of small leaves and these had collected inside the vents, turned into mulch and were blocking the flow of the water. I'm not certain how this caused the water to be diverted inside the car, but it wassuggested to me that this water can work its way into the heater and air vents which lead into the car interior. It is not easy to clear out these drain channels, but I persevered with a very small bottle brush on the end of a metre length of wire, while flushing the channels with running water. The problem has now completely gone. The interior remains bone dry in the heaviest down-pour regardless of the gradient and the direction the car is facing. I suspect that if the drains are sufficiently blocked, the interior will flood even if the car is not facing down hill. Hope this is of some help.
