The rifle in question is a Schmidt Rubin 6.5x55 military rifle that Sears and Roebuck had purchased after the war and bored out to 308 cal or 30.30 cal and was cut down and sporterized . The rifle sold via mail order in the late 50's early 60's for $29.99 and today in good shape is worth about $200.00 Canadian .
