It is behind the headlight switch. You will need to remove the headlight switch as well as the fuse panel cover below the dash. There will be two modules side by side on the same bracket. On my car the alarm module was the black one. It has two connectors plugged into it. The 6 wire connector on there has two larger sized wires side by side. Don't remember the colors but it is evident which ones they are. They must be jumped together, I used a crimp connector. If you do not jump these together your car will not start. Other than that just remove the module and you are set. I just did this last week.

The "voltage regulator" was a function controlled by the logic module in the 1987 SC. I think this was the case for 1985 as well. The logic module is located in the passenger side kick panel. A common problem with these cars was this function of the logic module being "fried" by a poor ground.
