Pet food companies in the United States cannot use horse meat, according to the Equine Protection Network, which is a group dedicated to making a difference for abused, neglected and slaughter-bound horses. The main reason for this is because U.S. companies make more profit by selling it to countries where people eat the meat.
This does not stop horse meat from making its way back into the United States as an "animal" by-product or "animal" digest. Animal digest is the remains of pretty much any part of any animal (blood, teeth, hair, fat, muscle, viscera) from anywhere (roadkill, shelter animals, euthanized pets and horses, undesirable meat from livestock, etc.). Cheaper dog foods contain by-products and animal digest.
Back when it was legal to hunt wild mustangs, horse meat was more common in dog food than it is now. Today most dog food "meat" comes from chicken intestines and scraps from meat processing plants.
Yes, some dog foods are still manufactured with horse food in it. Horse food is usually listed as protein so you can't tell what it is.
ABSOLUTELY!! if a horse can eat them so can a dog!!
People make it into dog food
The horses stomach holds 4 gallons of food and water.
Take the dog food back to wherever you purchased it from. Buy a good name brand dog food, not some cheap generic brand. Dog food should not have weevils in it. Do not feed it to your dog, return it & get a better dog food.
regular dog food.
Gravy Train dog food comes in two different types, either soft dog food or hard dog food. Soft dog food averages about eight dollars a can. Hard dog food averages about fifteen dollars a bag.
because unfortunately injured or unwanted horses are cheap and in large supply...:(

dog food , brushes , racing , and work
WTF why would you want to do that anyway
They are usually in the dog and cat food chain, only horses that are not to old or young and have no dieses, where on the packaging it says.... Dog food with chicken, if you read the ingredients it says 4% chicken!! And 75% animal dereditives, well that's the horse meat!
My horse doesn't try to eat dog food. You shouldn't let your horse eat that. He's probably just being nosy or being a pig. Dog food is for dogs, not horses.
Because they breed horses just to kill and make into DOG FOOD!!!!!!!!!
Well most of the time horses are bigger than dogs. Horses have hooves and dogs feet have pads. Horses have manes and a coat of fur where as dogs just have a coat of fur. Horses eat horse feed and dogs eat dog food.
Not as bad as cat food. But horses are herbivores. They eat grass, alfalfa, and oats. Dog food has a high cereal content, so a horse could probably eat a little bit of it without ill effect. But a steady diet of dog food, designed for carnivores, would likely contribute to health problems over a long period of time. Cat food would be even worse for horses. But chickens--the egg laying mix for chickens typically lacks sufficient protein, and so occasionally a handful of cat food is good for them.
the horses food is brought to them. . .
u get wool from sheep. the only products that use horses r dog food and glue
