Yes, they do test lipsticks, eyeshadows, shampoos, conditions and nail varnish on animals. Those are the most common but some companies do more than that. They put lipstick and nail varnish on rabbits, and since rabbits have no eyelashes they stick eye shadow in their eyes and that colour their eyes, to test for an allergic reaction. However, do take into account that if these products were not tested on animals they would be very dangerous to use without testing, so they would have to test them on humans.
Yes, it is done to see whether or not a human would have an adverse reaction to the chemicals used. Of course, this isn't an adequate form of information gathering as human animals and non-human animals do not share the same physiology and thus, how one reacts to a certain cosmetic does not mean the other will react similarly.
Yes, and that's kind of the point: they're trying to see if the product under test will make the animal blind. If it doesn't, the product is considered safe.
Having said that, I have to add the REASON they do this test: It's not because makeup manufacturers like to blind rabbits. In the 1930s, the big fad was having your eyelashes dyed, as a sort of permanent mascara. The most infamous product was called Lash-Lure. It's very hard to dye eyelashes without getting the product in your eyes, and the dye in Lash-Lure was a very powerful "aniline" dye like the ones used to dye textiles. It was dissolving women's eyes (there is a picture of a Lash-Lure victim on the internet; her eyes are GONE, man!) and killing people. After the Pure Food and Drug Act was amended to apply to cosmetics, Lash-Lure was banned and the government went around collecting up all they could find.
Yes.
Yes, it is very harmful because the chemicals in makeup is poison to the animals.
It is a SIN against humanity.
Actually, they don't look so good as once they've finished testing most animals are killed.
I cannot sit and list all the companies who may use inhumane methods of testing their makeup. The more and more people take a stance against animal cruelty, the more companies are willing to change the testing. The best way to make sure the makeup you are using was not tested on animals is to look on the tag for a phrase that would say "NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS" or "NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS MAKEUP." Some famous brands of makeup that are known for not testing on animals include: LIME CRIME Burt's Bees Arbonne
It is harm people just shove needles in them and it can kill them!
Yes, some animals are harmed during testing for makeup. But it only depends on the product being used.
It is when they test makeup on animals, that might also mean perfume.
the faith is that it dosent harm animals all the time
Yes it is very wrong! Think about it. They have no idea if their product is going to cause a reaction. The animal could suffer from allergic reactions, skin conditions, and could have fatal results. In my opion testing makeup on animals is animal abuse.
No it is not, in fact none of the Chanel products are tested on animals.
yes, in many cases of animal testing animals die and or get very sick during the testing process.
It does purmanate harm to the animals. It puts them in complete danger. And it is just sad to see them go through that.
