According to a consumer report done by CTV News Atlantic (Canada), Mighty Putty does not work as well as Billy Mays insinuated it did.
They tried two of the suggested uses: Making a ceramic mug handle from putty, and then trying to pull a car with it.
It failed both challenges.
The mug fell, and shattered to pieces, even after being allowed to dry for 24hrs.
And as for the car towing challenge...you can just imagine the outcome.
The putty didn't even struggle. The car didn't move. It failed.
In closing, I wouldn't suggest wasting $14.99 USD on this crap.
They say it is but when you put it on make sure that there are no air pockets or anything else in the putty and pack/sqeeze it really tight.
Soften it will fingernail polish remover and scrape with a putty knife. It should come off relatively easy.
Remove board and place horizontally on a waxed surface or waxed paper. Fill hole with spackling compound or putty using a putty knife. Tap brads (small nails) around perimeter of larger knotholes to hold putty. Choose pre-colored putty, or paint board when putty dries.
Silly putty is normally kept in a sealed container, if the silly putty has been left out and allowed to dry out completely then it is likely to shatter if dropped or hit with a heavy implement, such as a hammer.
You can make squishy putty by using borax, glue, and water! Mix a little of each together, add food colouring, and there you have it! Store in airtight container in fridge. Be careful, this putty stains!
If it is real marble, the oil in the putty can leach into the marble and discolor it.
Maybe mighty putty.
Mighty putty is an epoxy of sorts that is useful for repairing wood, ceramics, tile, and other household related materials and items. I couldn't find much about buying it online except at this site: *[http://www.pcfastlane.com/reviews/mighty-putty/ Mighty Putty]

Would you put mighty putty to fix a nuclear reactor leak? NO! And please don't ask uneducated questions. That stuff won't stop all those gallons of oil that come out even as I type.
silly putty can stretch, bounce, and brake if you stretch it fast.
