Okay.. you're talking apples and Oranges here. If you're infantry, you're infantry - completion of Ranger school doesn't change that, and you're infantry whether you're lower enlisted, whether you're a noncommissioned officer, or whether you're a commissioned officer.

Passing Ranger school helps with career advancement, but it does not facilitate an automatic promotion.

I really think you need to talk to a recruiter, because I can't help but get the impression you have some incorrect notions of how the Army works.

How do you get into the 75th ranger regiment?

Not everyone in 75th Ranger Regiment is actually a Ranger. They have cooks, mechanics, and the same support personnel any other unit would have. So, you could get into the 75th Ranger Regiment that way. If you actually want to be a Ranger, there's a couple different ways to go. Personnel just entering the Army would have to go in under a RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Programme) contract, which would limit the MOS choices available to them. 11B (infantry) is the most common, but there'll also be medics, communications personnel, etc. After your Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (or One Station Unit Training for infantry), you would first go to jump school, then to RIP. If you pass RIP, you can be assigned to a Ranger battalion. If not, you'll be sent to some line unit. If you're already a noncommissioned officer or commissioned officer, and want to go to a line company of a Ranger battalion in a leadership position, you will first need to complete Ranger school, which is a requirement for combat leaders in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

MOS ARMY CAPTAIN JUMP AND RANGER QUALIFIED?

Could be any MOS. They pretty much run officers through jump school for funsies. Officers might serve in one branch, but actually have to perform in another (e.g., a serving infantry officer who was actually qualified as an armor officer). So those qualifications don't make them specific to any MOS.

Is it possible to undergo Ranger Training in the US Army and then join the Green Berets From what I understand if you undergo Ranger training you are stationed in a Ranger Battalion forever?

I was in SF in the eighties and a bunch of the guys came over from the Ranger Battalions. Also, there are a lot of Infantry units throughout the Army that send some of their people to Ranger School.

What Army Ranger contract to pick if you want to be infantry but don't want to go to Ranger School?

Then you don't sign a Ranger contract. You just sign a contract for regular old 11B. Signing a Ranger contract doesn't send you to Ranger School - you need to be E4 or higher in order to do that - you go through the two week Ranger Indoctrination Program (now called something else, but I don't remember what), and, if you pass, you have the possibility of being assigned to a Ranger Battalion. In order to advance to Sergeant in a Ranger Battalion, you must first complete Ranger School and get tabbed out. In regular Army line units, Ranger School isn't a requirement, but it is a major advantage towards career advancement.

If you graduate from West Point what do you have to do to become a US Army Ranger and do you keep your rank?

As a Commissioned Officer, your first priority would be to attend the Ranger School - the Ranger Regiment doesn't permit you to hold any leadership position until you have the tab. Other than that, you simply volunteer for it. Of course you'd keep your rank if you were selected.. you'd still be a cherry LT, either way. If you're going into any Combat Arms as an officer, you can expect that you'll be expected to attend Ranger School. So, even if you don't get into the 75th Ranger Regiment (such slots are limited and in very high demand), your chances of attending the school are still pretty good.

Can a 91B go to ranger school?

Technically, Ranger School is not an MOS specific school, so - at least in theory - even someone with the MOS of a cook, motor transport operator, PAC clerk, etc. could go to Ranger School. However, you could only go if your unit was allotted slots for Ranger School, which most non-combat units were not, and which line units would typically reserve only for their officers and actual line troops (infantry, cavalry, combat medics, etc.).The MOS of 91B used to be combat medic, until the reorganisation which took place between 2001 and 2004. Now, combat medics are 68W, and 91B is wheeled vehicle mechanic. With what was said above, you technically could go to Ranger School, but your being able to secure a slot for Ranger School (especially if you're not in a line unit) is highly unlikely.

Can you go from the 101st Airborne to 75th Ranger regiment?

Yes, you can, although the likelihood of your chain of command facilitating it is questionable. If you were lower enlisted, you'd have to attend RIP. If you're an NCO or officer, you'd have to have attended and completed Ranger School first.

What is a Army Ranger?

An Army Ranger is an elite, light infantry soldier of the US Army. They are members of the 75th Ranger Regiment, which has approx. 2500 men. They are infantry, medics, and other support personnel. There are 4 battalions. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Special Troops Battalion. In order to join these ranks, you must complete these steps. 1. enlist in the army with an MOS found in the Rangers. 2. Pass basic combat training and AIT ( Advanced individual training ) 3. Pass Basic airborne school, as it is a requirement to be a ranger, as is with most us special ops. 4. Volunteer and attend RASP ( Ranger assessment and selection program ). This is an 8 week course which determines if you have what it takes to be a ranger. This course has only about 1/4 of volunteers pass. After completion, you will be assigned to one of the ranger battalions and be an army ranger. 5. After about a year or so, you will be sent to US Army Ranger School. This course is a leadership course. It's graduates are commonly confused with being rangers. Although they earn the ranger tab, they are not actually rangers. A ranger must pass this course in order to hold a leadership position in the Regiment and attend specialty schools such as Freefall and Scuba. The rangers perform a variety of tasks. They are a special operations, light infantry force, possibly the best infantry in the world. They conduct raids and shock operations by land, air , or sea. They are highly elite and have a great combat record. For more info, you can simply go to GoArmy.com or Wikipedia.
