Yes. The Generation 3 (1996-1999) 3.0L 24V DOHC Duratec V6 does use the same coil pack as the 3.0L 12V OHV Vulcan V6.

Be aware, the 2000 year model Duratec changes to a "Coil on plug" configuration and no longer shares parts with the 3.0L Vulcan.
Ford returns to an interchangeable Coil Pack on the Duratec in 2001-2003 year models, where they again change back to a Coil on Plug for the following model year configuration until the motor was no longer issued in 2005
The Generation 3 & 4 3.0L Vulcan never was Coil on Plug.
Bear in mind the Generation 1-2 (1986-1995) Ford Taurus Vulcans were a Distributed Single Coil Ignition system and are NOT compatible with the Generation 3-4 (1996-2007) Coil Pack Ignition Vulcans.
