A key not programed for the car will cause the computer to lock out and not allow the car to run. Many cars require a visit to the dealer to be reset if this happens. If this is what you mean by damage then yes
No, but your car dealer can get a new key by the VIN Number.
take the serial # off the dash of your car to the dealer.
That is the dealers responsibility. It should be included with the purchase of the new key.
the dealer has to program the key, they will need the car and original key.

See the dealer or you'll have him see you as you are locked out with the antitheft going off. Question why do I have to see a dealer? I have the master key, found instructions on the Internet for a 2004 to delete existing keys except master, than how to reprogram smart keys and valet key. Not sure if the same programming instructions work for a 2005? (I have been able to program all of my other smart keys fo other "dealer only" monogramming .
The key code is not located on the car. The dealer can get it from their computer system, or it was on the original sales paperwork for the car.
the new key has to be programed by the dealer
