It has never happend, but Art. II Sec. 2 of the Constitution states says that the president "shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." So, it's very posibble, & probably would depend on what he did.

Ulysess S. Grant didn't get impeached, in fact he was one of the Union generals who was very good at his job in the Civil War. I quote what President Lincoln said about Grant "I can't spare this man-he fights."
the southern white man regained political power after the civil war by getting in good with Andrew Johnson who was later impeached no not really they gained it by committing themselves to the union.
If the president is mentally disabled and refuses to leave office or do his job, he can be impeached and kicked out. Only a few presidents have been impeached. Andrew Johnson, the man who served after Lincoln was shot, was impeached. One of the articles of impeachment was that he spoke too loud in the senate.
The Senate finds an impeached man guilty. They do this by conducting a vote. A vote of at least two-thirds Senators are needed to impeach an official.

It the US president had power to add things to the US constitution, then they could indefinitely extend their power, making them a dictator. The constitution limited the president's power to prevent such a situation from occurring, knowing too well the dangers of unchecked power in one man's hands.
Two American Presidents have been impeached:Andrew Johnson for a number of charges, primarily violation of the Tenure of Office Act.Bill Clinton, for Obstruction of Justice and Abuse of Power in the handling of the Monica Lewinski and Paula Jones scandals.Neither man was removed from office.Richard Nixon resigned before he could be impeached.
