I was looking at the 2001 Ford Ranger Owner Guide , in the Roadside
Emergencies / changing a tire section , and the drawing shows the rear
leaf springs being ABOVE ( on top ) the axle tubes
Look in the removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
The 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant thermostat is located inside of the thermostat housing. You can follow the bottom radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.
In the bottom of the fuel filter housing.
The spring part should be towards the motor
if it is a V6 you follow the bottom radiator hose to the thermostat housing and disconnect the electrical connector ( the housing is located at the front of the intake manifold) you loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose then take out the housing bolts and remove the housing and the thermostat is right there make sure you put the new one in the same way the old one came out
Follow the upper rad hose frm the rad to the engine and at the engine you will find the thermostat in a housing. When replacing it make sure the spring goes twoard the engine. addendum!Ford in 2001 decided to take the simplicity of a thermostat located under the housing attached to the upper radiator hose on top of the engine and place it on the bottom right hand side facing, attached to the bottom radiator hose. It also is one piece instead of the housing and thermo separate and is about 1000 times more money. I just came from from a ford dealer looking for the crank case vent tube and the service guy couldn't find it on their web site?
The 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck tail light fuse can be found in the fuse box. The tail light fuse will be in the first column, fourth from the bottom.
bad blower motor
in the bottom of the fan housing located on the passenger side footwell.
the 2001 esteem is wierd. follow the bottom radiator hose to the engine. four bolts connect the housing to the engine.
I got on motorcraft.com and looked at the picture for the thermostat on a 2001 Ford Ranger 2.3 L - DOHC . It looks like the thermostat is electrically operated and it's shown mounted in a housing ( Motorcraft part number RT 1157 )
If you follow the bottom radiator hose you will see that it hooks to a housing on the water pump. The thermostat is behind that housing. Remove the 3 bolts.
