Eating allott of protein is not a good thing. Remeber to much of anything is not good for you. If you are trying to build muscle mass then you need to work out matching your protein intake with your work out and carbs. The ratio should be 2 grams carbs to 1 gram protein. Protein alone can not do either very well it is hard for the body to process protein. So in order to do that you need a delivery system (i.e.) carbs.) With the carbs and a work out you can build muscle mass other wise you will put on fat however this is not from the protein this would be from excessive calorie that you do not burn, which then become fat. You should only take in as much as your going to use.

its 2 grams protein to 1 gram carbs... if you weigh 200 pounds you need 200 grams of protein and 100 grams carbs daily.

No, unless you eat so much protein that you exceed your energy needs. Even then, our bodies prefer to burn the excess protein (because we cannot store it) and SAVE or SPARE the Calorie equivalent of fat from being burned---which results in the spared fat being "gained". That's one way we add to our body fat and gain some fat weight. Another way is to eat excess carbs (exceeding energy needs), and the pattern is the same as for protein because we have little carb storage either. But the fastest and easiest way to gain body fat is to eat fat --- exceed your energy needs with fat, and that excess fat, which is quickly tucked away in your body fat, simply stays there instead of being burned--instant gain.

All foods, including proteins, are converted to glucose by the body. The body will store some of this glucose as glycogen in the liver. After the liver has been loaded, any excess calories, regardless of the source, will be converted to fat for long term storage.

Yes. The liver converts protein to carbs when your either haven't eaten enough carbs or have eaten way too much protein. The carbs will then be turned into fat.
