What causes a water leak from the tailpipe of a 1988 Chevy Celebrity?

Water coming out the tailpipe means there is water in the exhaust. This is not uncommon when the engine is cold and the exhaust is condensing. That situation should stop when the engine warms up. If the exhaust continues to have water in it after the engine is warmed up it could possibly indicate a leaky head gasket or cracked cylinder head.

Why White smokecomes out tailpipe that smells like coolant?

You have a blown head gasket. Open your radiator while the engine is running. You should find exhaust coming from it.

Why water is coming out the tailpipe in a petrol car?

Typically, it would be due to condensation formed when the hot exhaust gases come into contact with the much cooler outside air. Worst case scenario, it could be the result of a blown head gasket (although water coming out of the tailpipe wouldn't be the only effect from that).

Why is there a knocking sound coming from the rear end of my 1994 Nissan Sentra when I start it?

Check the tailpipe for contact with the body. A loose hanger that holds the exhaust up may be sagging. The movement of the motor starting will jar the exhaust system.

What is the difference between white smoke and steam coming out the tailpipe?

You will see steam come from the tailpipe in the winter which is caused by the hot exhaust coming from the engine making contact with the cold metal in the exhaust system. This is normal and no cause for alarm. However if the white smoke does not dissipate almost instantly and seems to continue you may have a blown head gasket. If the exhaust smells sweet you almost certainly have a problem and the gasket is blown. A blown gasket will destroy the engine in time. If you are not sure have it looked at by a professional.

Why do you have a mixture of water and oil coming out your tailpipe?

Water (condensation) is a normal condition with a cold engine as stated below, but not oil?? Perhaps a bad head gasket/cracked head/ or block Water coming out of the tailpipe is not uncommon. You will probably see on a lot of cars on humid days with water coming out of the tailpipe usually it goes away once your engine and exhausts have warmed up. Check out the links below for better explanation. It also depends on how old your truck is. Trucks with less than 1000 miles on them sometimes have an oily residue exit out of the tailpipe. During maunafacturing of exhaust pipes, lubricants are used to prevent rust. Check the oil with a blacklight because a dye is usually added to initial oil in the engine. If you have a diesel, then you may have oil coming from the engine, loosen the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger and look for signs of oil exiting the tailpipe. If the turbo is leaking oil you probably have worn bearings in it and possibe wheel hub replacement.

What if you have raw fuel coming out of the tailpipe?

I would check and make sure that isn't just water. Condensation occurs on the inside of the tailpipe as the vehicle warms up... If you had gasoline coming into your tailpipe you would experience backfiring, extreme backfiring.
