No...whether points or HEI the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. If you happened to mark where the rotor was pointing on the old dist before taking it out and installed the HEI in the same location it should be right on. If not, bring the engine to top dead center. You can verify this by looking at the timing marks on the harmonic balancer and the pointer. Now install your distributor and rotor. Whatever plug wire on the cap that it is pointing to will be your #1 plug wire. Then wire the rest, clockwise, in the order given above. You will still need to set the timing. If by chance it absolutely will not start and/or pops or backfires when trying to start it you could be 180 degrees out. Meaning that the engine was on the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke when the timing marks were aligned. If this is the case move each plug wire on the cap exactly across from where it is. In other words, if the cap were a clock and #1 plug wire was at the 12 o'clock position you would want to move it to the 6 o'clock position and follow the firing order from there. Hope that gets you up and running.

Where is the camshaft sensor located in 1997 Chevy venture
It's the same on a Chevy pull your distributor cap see what position the rifle buld is facing and drop the electronic dust. In the same position and wire it up and add an ignition power to the distributor.
Camshaft position is taken from the distributor, there is no separate sensor.
how do you change a crankshaft position sensor on a 1999 chevy camaro z28?
That year don't have one.
Come to our forum and ask there. I do not know about a steering wheel position sensor. www.trailvoy.com
You can replace the ignition control module and the crankshaft position sensor as required.
Turn the key to the 'on' position (do not start the truck).Wait for the change oil light to come on.Tap the gas pedal 5 times.Move key to off position, move key back to on position. The change oil light should be reset.
