a simple test to check the alternator is to disconnect either one of the battery terminals battery while the car is still running at its slowest speed if the enginge quits the alternator is bad, or an easier test is to rev the engine from idle with the head lights on and observe if the lights get brighter. do you have a manual for the car?

Possibly a bad alternator or battery.

Why does your car keep going dead with a good battery?

Could mean that your alternator is bad and is stopping it from regenerating the power.

What is it when the tail lights stay on and interior lights stay on and make clicking sound on 94 stealth?

The engine is clicking with all of the interior lights on? Dead battery... and for future reference... if there is no clicking= really dead battery and it might not recharge. In that case check the alternator, if the alternator is still good, just buy a new battery. If the battery continues to fail to recharge get a new alternator.

How much does an alternator tester cost?

~ $1,000 on ebay, but many parts stores will test them for free. The easy way to tell if your alternator is bad is to drive the car. If it stalls while driving, the alternator is definitely at fault. If you have to charge the battery to start it, but it drives fine and will re-start shortly after stopping, then it's likely the battery.

How can I test my alternator to see if it is discharging my battery?

You can have the alternator tested free of charge at just about any major auto parts store. By the way, a bad alternator will not "discharge" a battery - the alternator's function is to provide the charge to the battery. If the alternator is faulty, then it is not providing the charge necessary to keep other components from discharging the battery. I had the alternator tested and it was charging. If the alternator has a bad diode, it will discharge the battery. I replaced the alternator and everything is fine.
