Yes . For a gene to be expressed it must first be transcribed. When the action of the product of a gene is needed (protein/enzyme), its gene is activated and a RNA copy is made of it. Various processing steps performed upon this RNA transcript make it into the RNA mentioned above - a messenger Rna (mRna).

What is the copying of the DNA called?

The process by which a double-stranded DNA molecule is copied to produce two identical DNA molecules is called replication. The two strands of a DNA molecules have complementary base pairs, and so the nucleotide sequence of each strand automatically gives the information needed to produce its partner.

What enables DNA to be copied?

Before a cell divides, its DNA is replicated (duplicated.) Because the two strands of a DNA molecule have complementary base pairs, the nucleotide sequence of each strand automatically supplies the information needed to produce its partner.

Which term is used to describe the process of copying DNA?

RNA Synthesis, or RNA Transcription is the process of creating an equivalent RNA strand of a sequence DNAThe process of copying DNA in a cell is called replication.

Which macromolecules are copied and pass genetic informaation to the new cells?

DNA molecules are copied and pass genetic information to the new cells. The process of coping is called replication. Nucleotide is the unit of DNA molecule.

Why are introns copied and then removed from the RNA sequence?

Introns were copied and then removed from the RNA sequence because they were placeholders.

What determines the sequence of amino-acids in a protein?

The DNA carries the instructions for protein synthesis. These instructions are copied onto mRNA, which then travels to the ribosome. At the ribosome, the mRNA is translated into the correct sequence of amino acids.

The process by which DNA is copied to make a complemetary strand of DNA?

DNA replication is a process at which its complementary strands are synthesized. DNA polymerase and other enzymes participates in the catalysis of this process. DNA replication duplicated the total DNA of a cell before mitosis.

What does DNA do after it is copied?

It joins up with its complementary strand. I may then be used to make RNA.

In genetics what does complementary DNA mean?

Complementary DNA (cDNA) is DNA that has been copied from an mRNA through a reverse transcriptase enzyme. cDNA contains a copy of the original DNA sequence that made the mRNA - but without the introns (as these are cut out to create mRNA).

What is the process of going from DNA to RNA called?

Transcription.During transcription the base sequence (genetic code) of part (a gene) of one strand of DNA is copied onto a strand of RNA as the RNA is synthesized.

What is the role of rna?

RNA polymerase is an enzyme that is responsible for copying a DNA sequence into an RNA sequence, duyring the process of transcription. As complex molecule composed of protein subunits, RNA polymerase controls the process of transcription, during which the information stored in a molecule of DNA is copied into a new molecule of messenger RNA.

What is directly formed from this template of DNAserves as the template to initiate protein synthesis?

The intermediate molecule formed between DNA and protein is mRNA (messenger RNA). The process in which the DNA sequence is copied to an RNA sequence is called transcription. The process in which the mRNA template is read to produce protein is called translation (protein synthesis)
