Examplle of compound-complex sentence

(I have italicized the second part of each compound sentence for you.) A compound sentence has more than one part, like this sentence, and can be thought of as two sentences strung together. Dr Cooper provided his patients with excellent medical care, but they nevertheless found him to be cold and unfeeling about their personal lives. Madame LaFave felt a cold wave of dread at his approach, though she could not in any way determine why she should feel anything of the sort.

First of 2 combined sentences: I accidently tripped on the sidewalk.

2nd of the interlocking sentences: Therefore, my knees were bruised.

Therefore, a compound sentence is two sentences combined. :D
