Benny Goodman recorded "Sing Sing Sing" in the year 1937.
Big bands were how people entertained themselves before T.V. They went out and danced to their music.
The value of old Moms Mabley 33 1/3 RPM records in excellent condition will depend on who is buying them. A collector of this type of record might pay $10 or more per album. The price of vintage items usually depends on what a buyer is willing to pay.
According to Jack, yes. I met Jack in the early 80s in Illinois and had him in for a concert. An absolutely amazing gentleman and singer. It was during the several days we spent together and visited about his past that he mentioned he had sung with the Benny Goodman band.
Born to Russian immigrants, Benny Goodman was born on May 30, 1909 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. When he was sixteen, Benny was hired by the Ben Pollack Band and moved to Los Angeles, California. Benny lived in Los Angeles until he moved to New York City at the age of twenty.
Goodman did not have a lot of formal education. Most of his studies were purely musical, starting with clarinet lessons at his synagogue and moving on to further work at Chicago's Hull House where he was tutored by a member of the Chicago Symphony.
As a young teenager he started touring and at the age of just 16 he joined the Ben Pollack band, famous as an "incubator" of musicians who would later become some of the top performers in jazz. So in effect the music world was Benny's school.
Goodman is most identified with Selmer. In the 30's he's known to have played a Selmer Paris K series and in the 50's a Selmer Paris Centered Tone. If he's like most musicians, though, he probably had a closet full of instruments.
It is said that Tallulah and Billie went around with each other and may have spent some nights together, but there are no sources to deny or conform this.
Benny Goodman made 21 songs no I'm just kidding. Ask yourself did you ever really want this question answered?
Columbia. Jersey Bounce fox trot
Most dance bands were simply named for their leader, so it was Benny Goodman and His Orchestra or the Benny Goodman band.
Alice Hammond Duckworth, in March of 1942.
They had two children:
* Rachel Goodman (Edelson) an English teacher * Benjie Goodman (Lasseau) a performing artist
When Goodman's father took him and two of his brothers (Harry and Freddy) to the Kehelah Jacob Synagogue, Benny was given the clarinet because he was the smallest. He really didn't have a choice in the matter, but he seemed very good at it. Because of his ability to think in cascades of notes, his style fit perfectly with the instrument he was given.

Jack Benny is supposed to play the violin on his show
Benny Goodman developed an interest in classical muisc and recoded the Mozart Clarinet Concerto and Clarinet Quintet. He also commissioned Bela Bartok to write "Contrasts", for clarinet, violin and piano which he premièred with the composer and the violinist Joseph Szigeti. However, this question doesn't really make sense. It is important to read over things after you have written to check that they express clearly what you mean. Names of people and places, etc. should begin with a capital letter.
Many of the records are valued in price close to $20 each. The exact amount will vary depending upon the condition and how it is displayed.
