In Christian theology, many people believe that humans are by definition born into a state of sin (or imperfection) due to the fall in the Garden of Eden. Sin is thus seen as a part of human nature, and a part of our natural and normal imperfection. Many Protestants further see that humans cannot always tell if they are sinning (i.e. you might commit sins unknowingly). People who are strong in their faith and who consider themselves Christian may try to avoid committing sins, but sin is really THE HUMAN STATE OF IMPERFECTION and not merely "bad actions," so in that sense it is impossible for human beings not to sin, however well-meaning an individual is. In Protestantism, salvation (or "justification") is usually seen as a gift ("grace") from God, who gives us salvation because he loves us, for which reason he sacrificed his son Jesus. Thus, we speak of "justification by grace through faith," or "salvation as a gift of God through faith in him." Salvation and justification do not make us free of sin, but they redeem us despite the fact that human beings are born into a state of sin--from which we cannot free ourselves.

Now, Roman Catholicism and other Christian denominations approach the concept of sin a bit differently. But the foregoing is generally applicable to most Protestant denominations.

Why is God supposed to tell the sins you did on judgment day if Jesus died on the cross to erase those sins?

Because Jesus died to erase all sins. But its your choice whether you want them erased or not. It's your choice to accept Christ as your savior ask for forgiveness and turn your life over to Christ. Those people that have done so they're sins are gone. But if you don't accept Christ as your saviour and you continue to live a life of sin..then that's why God still tells you your sins on judgment day. He still tells people who have accepted Him their sins as well. But they are covered by the blood Christ shed on the cross.
