Sounds like a problem in the fuel system. Fuel is finding it's way into the cylinders after the ignition is switched off. Does the engine run on as normal, or run erratically after you switch the engine off? The former could be an electrical problem (something not switching off properly). The second could mean that fuel is building up in the system somewhere and discharging into the engine when the power is switched off.
Had the same problem on my 406 coupe 3.0ltr-Try turning on ignition and pressing the keyfob-worked for me, good luck!
i had a citroen saxo and had the same problem it is most likely the ignition coil AA charged mer £100 for part and fitting
hi..im sorry if ive got your hopes up and you think this is an answer to your problem but the truth is ive got the same problem..ive got a 1998 peugeot 306 1.9 diesel and some peugeot 306 models have a sensor with the fitting attached (picture available if you send an email address to me) the sensor on mine goes into a gromit attached to a bracket bolted to the engine but the bracket is not there and i don't know what it looks like neither can i buy one because peugeot agents don't list one.!..hope you've had some luck..regards.
The battery light on a Peugeot 306 diesel may remain illuminated with the ignition off due to a malfunctioning alternator or a faulty battery. It can also indicate that the battery is discharging power even when the vehicle is off, possibly due to an electrical short or a parasitic drain from connected components. Additionally, a problem with the battery's connections or the vehicle's electrical system could cause this issue. It's advisable to have the battery and charging system checked by a professional to diagnose the problem accurately.
A bad coolant temperature sensor is one thing that could cause an idling speed problem with a Peugeot 406. There could also be a problem with the idle control valve.
you have an engine/ignition problem. HAve a garage read the codes and diagnose the problem soon.
What is the problem? Transistors can easily switch about any electrical or radio frequency needing switching today.
its either the starter or your ignition
Check to ensure it hasn't jumped time. Have a ASE certified mechanic check this...
Physically has a turning problem ? Try your spare key and still has the problem? Replace the ignition switch.
