For an astro van with awd do you need to replace all 4 tires when only 2 need replacement?

yes! there can only be a max 7% overall height difference from your tallest tire to your shortest tire. i don't know if all AWD's use them but the is a viscus clutch in the AWD will be destroyed if you try and put different tires on your vehicle. i know your smart tire shops refuse to put less than 4 tires on AWD's. it's 4 or none for them. hope this helps.

Fragmented question?? If you have under 3/32nd's remaining on your tires replace them. If you have wires hanging out of your tires replace them. Replace tires as needed or rather replace all at once if you do not like mis-matched tires. However many people will replace just two tires at a time then rotate when the other two need replacement.
