If its stalling while your say at a stop sign or red light, and the only way you can keep it from doing so is by putting it in neutral and giving it some gas, the most likely problem is a vacuum leak.
On the rear of the engine there is a hose that's about an inch and a quarter thick, it goes into the back of the engine. its connected by a rubber elbow, called a PCV elbow, these things wear out pretty fast, I had to change one in a 2001 focus with 120k on it. It had a pen sized hole through and through. pull it off the engine bay and inspect the elbow. Apparently its a pretty common problem on focus's and its only about 20 bucks for a new elbow at a dealership, if not cheaper.
why 2003 ford focus stall when air conditioner is turned on
yes, I did it. But the engine still stalls.
Look for a vacuum blockage or a vacuum leak.
It's probably part of a fuel pump recall with Ford, make sure to take it into your local dealership, they should fix it for free in around two hours.
