Frank Townsend Lent was an artist and an architect. he was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y .March 3,1855 and died in Sterling , Ma. October 9, 1919 He was an author of 3 books He attended Rutgers University and graduated in 1878 with a BS and in 1881 with a MS. He lived in Gananoque, Canada and also Cranford, NJ where he designed over 100 homes in 4 years. He was featured in the Cranford Chronicle March 5, 2010 titled "The Character of Cranford" The heritage Committee of Gananoque, Ontario designated three properties as Heritage Sites Christ Anglican Church, Sleepy Hollow B.& B and The Pump House. Other structures attributed to Frank Lent are The Gananoque Clock Tower, The Clarion Inn and Conference Center which was at one time called THe Blinkbonnie Hotel, Nokomis Lodge on Howe Island which burnt to the ground. Frank was also a prolific Artist and belonged to the Salmagundi Club and was a contributor to the Pedestal Fund for the Statue of Liberty. His books are "Sound Sense in Suburban Architecture" Sensible Suburban Residences, Summer Homes and Camps.He was a fellow of the Royal Canadian Institute of Architecture.
