Make sure that your "Esc" key isn't stuck. Try relaunching minecraft or playing it in your browser. If that doesn't work try using the technic launcher.
When in-game, press escape.

You might have deleted the nessescary files to run minecraft. Go to options on the startup menu and press force update/
While playing a game press the ESC key and select the Achievements or Statistics button in the game menu.
BUY THE GAME. Then download some mods for it. The main menu has a spot for mods and texture packs.
Make sure that in the menu in-game the bottom button says "Server is visible"
Press esc and the Game Menu will pop up. Press options, and check if you are on Peaceful mode. if you are, press that Peaceful button, and it'll turn to Easy. Keep pressing until you have the right game mode that you want. Peaceful -> Easy -> Normal -> Hard
