As I recall, you went way past the service engine /change oil interval. i had the same problem with my 94 c280. after a great deal of investigation I found a sticky substance on the are were the needles rest, preventing the gauges from working. I then covered the posts where the needles rest with cut up ends of a ball point pen, and volva they work well for the past 6 months
