If you research this on the internet, you will find tons of different answers. I have looked into this myself before. Basically, most women ovulate on a 28-day cycle. Usually you ovulate and then later in the month, when you have your period, it is actually passing the lining of your womb that you won't be using since you aren't pregnant. (This is on a very basic level.) Therefore, usually you cannot get pregnant during your period, but some women (low percentage) are actually ovulating for their next cycle during their period. This is when you could become pregnant.
Please remember the only sure way not to be pregnant it abstinence. But since this is not a common practice, SAFE SEX is the best alternative. Try to even use two types of contraceptives like taking Birth Control and using a condom.
