For Appeasement

It also gave us time to build up our armed forces, as well as the Germans so that we could deal with the threat more effectively.
Against Appeasement
Gave Germany time to strengthen their armed forces.
If Britain and France would not intervene over Czechosovakia, unlikely they would take any action to defend other threatened countries.
Naive policy - Hitler had made clear his aims to conquer Eastern Europe.
Hitler became more aggressive as he felt Britain would not take action.
One problem is that appeasement never ends. For example, when Neville Chamberlain decided to appease Adolph Hitler, the idea was that it would lead to peace because Hitler would (supposedly) be satisfied with the compromise that had been offered to him. But as we know, Hitler was far from satisfied. And that is what often happens: the person (or persons) being appeased usually decide they want more. Appeasement is often seen as a sign of weakness, and it seldom gets the desired result, since the stronger party will usually come back to the weaker one with even more demands.

The European leaders agreed to a policy of appeasement because France and Britain had adopted the stance of achieving peace at any price. Neither country was ready for war and there was British sentiment that Germany did have some grievances from Versailles.
The Cannon-Bard theory of emotion argues that emotional responses occur simultaneously with physical reactions in response to a stimulus. This theory proposes that the brain processes emotions independently from physiological responses, rather than the physiological changes causing emotions.
