Hamsters aren't supposed to share cages if there syrians(dwarf hamsters can share a cage very happily). Your hamsters could kill eachother; hamster's nature is to roam alone. However, if you have one male hamster, and one female hamster, this may not apply, as the female can, well, you know, with the male and before you know it.... pop goes the BABIES. Be prepared.
Does running help hamsters?
Well, hamsters need exercise, but they usually do that by running on a wheel if you have one. But if you have a guinea pig they have to run around outside, not in a wheel or a ball because it could cause back problems. Your welcome!
Can Russian dwarf hamsters jump?
No because of the birth defect given by the mother that made him a dwarf, his exteujal cord will not cooperate with his feet, or his hip so he wont jump without help. They do have one advantage of being able to bite .2947 times harder than regular Russian Hamsters. Hope I Helped :) -Science_Geek44

You have to periodically trim guinea pig nails, whereas you do not have to do that with hamsters.

Do Russian hamsters bite?
All the animals that I can think of bite--except for goldfish. Russian Dwarf hammies DO bite, but it's in their natural instinct. You can tame this out of them, though. It will take a lot of time and patience. I am saying this as an experienced dwarf owner. Play with the hammiw everyday, DO NOT wake it up while its sleeping, and feed it food and treats by hand.yes, Russian dwarf do bite, i had the same question and had my hamster answer it. Dwarf Hamsters are more 'Nippy' and more territorial of their cages than Syrian, if you scare you hamster or take it away from its food bowl it may bite if you want to try this it might help: put a towel on your hands then place the hamster on you hands with the towel on it, make it trust you again by , talking nicely to it and it should start to trust you after a while....... hope this works for everybody!!!! no fancy Russian dwarf hamsters do not bite but most other breeds of hamsters do

Hamsters are originally from South America After doing a report with my 2nd grade daughter we learned that it depends on the breed, but the come mostly from Asia. In particular Russia, China, Turkey and a lot of mention of Syria. The first domesticated hamsters were Syrian hamsters.
What if the male is in the cage when your female hamster has babies?
It depends on the species. The female may be aggressive towards the male and the male will stay away or they'll fight, but with Russian dwarf hamsters the father will help.
