I believe that knob is held on by a very small pin that you should see going straight thru the knob. It may look like nothing at all but that's the pin holding the knob in place. If it's there it can be knocked out, you just have to use something small enough to go through the hole as you knock it through and out with a hammer. Once enough of the pin comes out the other end it can be pulled out the rest of the way with pliers. The new pin will have to be knocked in the same way the old one came out.
