Yes, but they are much more likely in some areas than others. They can also travel vast distances. Tsunamis can happen anywhere along a coastline, and are more common around the Pacific Rim.
Yes, Tsunamis are created by seismic activity and there is some activity in the Atlantic, although much less than the Pacific Ocean.
and this could mean danger to the lives near the Atlantic coasts ...because tsunamis are dangerous...
Yes. If an earthquake happened in the ocean close to a coast a tsunami could happen. Even distant earthquakes can poase a threat. The Tsunami that devastated Japan in 2011 also caused damage and killed one person on the west coast of the U.S. Hawaii, which is part of the U.S. was devastated by tsunamis in 1946 and 1960. There is a subduction zone off the west coast extending from British Columbia, Canada to northern California which could trigger a major earthquake and tsunami that could strike the west coast with little warning.
Yes. Tsunamis have affected the U.S. in the past and it is inevitable that they will again.
Tsunamis don't generally occur to often in the U.S. The only place in the United States I can think of that might get a decent sized tsunami is Hawaii...
Yes. There is concern for the the east coast and west coast of the U.S. that a tsunami could strike in the future.
Yes, they can.
Since the beginning of time, countless numbers of tsunamis have hit the United States and its territories. However, many of these tsunamis have not hit contiguous states, and were directed at Hawaii.
There can be any sort of weather. Tsunamis are typically triggered by an undersea earthquake or landslide and are not weather-related.
tsunamis are cool
No. Tidal waves and tsunamis are not the same thing.
Tsunamis hit mostly in the "Ring of Fire". The ring of fire surrounds most of the Pacific ocean.

195 tsunamis have hit Japan in total
There is a system of tidal buoys that are designed to detect tsunamis before they hit the shore, but a tsunami caused by an earthquake along the coast would hit the beach before any alarm could be given.

That would be along a coast, so if you are in a landlocked state, then don't worry about it.

well first of all, people are going to get hit by tsunamis but also buildings are likely to get detroyed too depending on how high and how strong was it. a tsunamis occur when the ocean gets desturbed( example:earthquake-anything that shakes the land ). tsunamis are no laughing matter.
Yes, in fact the Pacific Ocean has more tsunamis than any other.
