While I am not sure if your question is about the US.or Europe?I can say that the biggest manufacturer was Cresent arms Co.They made over 100 different types of shotguns by name for many hardware stores through out the country. They were in business from 1882-1932.Of course Winchester made many shotguns during this time period. The model 1897 being the most popular.Remington were making side by side shotguns during this time also.with many being sold.Marlin began making shotguns at the begining of the 20th century.I hope that you find this informative.
Since Wards didn't make shotguns, but sold shotguns manufactured by other companies, you first need to identify the manufacturer. Get a gun values book and look at the Mossberg, Savage, and Noble shotguns. All of those companies sold shotguns to Wards. When you determine the correct manufacturer and model number, write back and we'll tell you where to go to get parts. check your model number again, is it possible the shotgun is a 24M? if so, it is made by Mossberg and is designated a Model 9. Most parts are available through Numrich at www.e-gunparts.com
No one made OLD ones, but almost every firearms manufacturer made NEW ones a long time ago. If you have a trade name marked on the gun, we may be able to provide a manufacturer's name and approximate age.
