Why are penises uncircumsied at birth?

This is the natural form of a penis, with foreskin attached. All baby boys are born with It. It is only later that circumcision gets taken into consideration for whatever reason, be it religious or cultural. Medically a penis will be circumcised because the foreskin is too tight and cannot be loosened.

What is an alternative for circumcision procedure in adults men?

Yes the alternative to male circumcision is auto-circumcision, whereby training the foreskin to stay in a retracted position. Many males do this. Note rarely some males are born without the appearance of having foreskin though it really is a very short foreskin. Some called this circumcised by an Angel:

Is permanent retraction of the foreskin as an alternative to circumcision valid in Islam?

A person who could permanently retract his foreskin is deemed to be naturally circumcised and need not be circumcised ! Although circumcision is an integral part of Islam, there are exceptions to those individuals who could not be circumcised as the operation if carried out might be harmful to them or might jeopardise their health. Among these categories of people include the disabled, infirm, those suffering from chronic illnesses eg:haemophillia or those born naturally circumcised( with little or no foreskin) or become naturally circumcised later owing to the onset of puberty where the foreskin shortens to the extent that it becomes permanently retracted behind the head thus exposing the head.

How much does a circumcision cost in Arizona for age 2?

Circumcision is not covered by health insurance as it is not a medically necessary procedure so you will have to pay for the full cost yourself out of pocket. Circumcision with general anesthesia should cost between $2000 and $3000. This includes the doctor performing the procedure and the anesthesiologist. Circumcision of adults is less expensive, as adults can opt to have only local anesthesia. However, if you are 15, I would advise you to wait a few more years before you consider having a circumcision. Often teen age boys are uncomfortable with being uncircumcised and request circumcision for cosmetic reasons. In my practice, I've found that young men who are circumcised for cosmetic reasons sometimes regret their decision later, not only because of the pain and discomfort associated with the recovery, but also because they realize their reasons for circumcision were more to "fit in" than for any other reason. Circumcision has no known medical benefit, and most doctors recommend against routine infant circumcision. Circumcision, like all surgeries, has risks of adverse medical events including surgical error, prolonged bleeding, infection, and pain. A permanent decrease in penile sensitivity and sexual pleasure is also common since circumcision removes the foreskin, which protects the sensitive glans (head) of the penis. Circumcision is extremely rare in the world outside the United States. Circumcision was once routine in the United States, but this trend has reversed as parents and doctors are increasingly deciding against infant circumcision. In 1980 over 80% of newborns in the United States were circumcised while in 2007 less than 40% of infants were circumcised. If you are 15 and you have phimosis, a tight foreskin that can not be retracted, I'd suggest that you consult a urologist who can prescribe a steroid cream (like hydrocortisone) which can be used during stretching exercised to help expand the opening of the foreskin. In my experience, this works in most cases and patients are able to avoid the discomfort and possible complications of circumcision.

How long can you wait to get circumcised?

A man can be circumcised at any time, but keep in mind that circumcision is not necessary. Circumcision has no known medical benefits, and no major medical association recommends routine infant circumcision. Circumcision caries with it serious risks of adverse outcomes including prolonged bleeding, infection, severe pain, and surgical error that can result in damage to the penis. For these reasons most physicians recommend against circumcision. Circumcision can have long lasting consequences. Circumcision removes a normal part of the penis that functions to protect the glans of the penis. Removal of the foreskin can cause decreased sensitivity of the penis and decreased pleasure during sexual intercourse. This is yet another reason why circumcision is becoming increasingly uncommon. If the procedure is committed on an infant there is a real risk of post traumatic stress syndrome brought on by the excruciating pain, with outcomes like lack of bonding with the mother and behavioral problems later in life. Circumcision is far less common now in the United States than it once was. During the 1970s and 1980, around 80% of male infants were circumcised in the United States. A study conducted in the United States from 2005-2007 found that circumcision rates had fallen to below 40% in most of the United States. In the western United States, fewer than 25% of infant males were circumcised in 2005-2007.

Can't afford to get your newborn circumcised?

Your son is in luck then. Circumcision is painful for infants, and it can have serious complications including bleeding, infection, and permanent injury to the penis. Circumcision removes a part of the penis which has an important function. The foreskin functions to protect the sensitive glans (head) of the penis. as well as playing a part in generating sexual pleasure in its own right. Removal of the foreskin can lead to decreased sensitivity and decreased sexual pleasure later in life. Circumcision is becoming increasingly uncommon. In the United States in 2007, less than 40% of male infants were circumcised. Above all it is now being discovered that the trauma associated with this horribly painful practice can have serious effects on a child's brain and mental state. Take this opportunity to protect the health of your new son.

Circumcision has NO age limit?

I don't think it does....but why would someone do it later? the earlier it is the better.

What does circumciesd mean?

Male circumcision is the surgical removal of part of, or all of, the foreskin of the penis. Male circumcision is practiced by many religions and cultures and it is believed that there are medical benefits to having the foreskin removed though medical associations in most developed countries do not recommend male circumcision as a routine procedure. In some countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, infant circumcisions are performed, upon parental request, when the child is just a few days old. Female circumcision, also known as female genital mutilation or female genital cutting, is a removal of part or all of the external genetalia. Though some cultures do practice female circumcision for religious and social reasons, it is very much frowned upon by most western countries, mainly because of the lack of consent in many cases along with horrible medical consequences the females may suffer later in their life due to having the procedure performed. Females have been known to die from excessive blood loss from the procedure.

What are the procedures in male circumcision?

This is probably a good way to describe it. Marilyn Milos didn't know much about circumcision when she consented to have her three sons circumcised. She trusted her doctor who told her it did not hurt and "only took a moment." Several years later she watched a circumcision in nursing school. "We students filed into the newborn nursery to find a baby strapped spread-eagle to a plastic board on a counter top across the room." Then the doctor arrived. "The silence was soon broken by a piercing scream, the baby's reaction to having his foreskin pinched and crushed as the doctor attached the clamp to his penis. The shriek intensified when the doctor inserted an instrument between the foreskin and the glans (head of the penis), tearing the two [normally attached] structures apart. The baby started shaking his head back and forth, the only part of his body free to move, as the doctor used another clamp to crush the foreskin lengthwise. . . . The baby began to gasp and choke, breathless from his shrill continuous screams. . . . During the next stage of the surgery, the doctor crushed the foreskin against the circumcision instrument and then, finally, amputated it. The baby was limp, exhausted, spent." Now she deeply regrets her sons' circumcisions and works tirelessly to educate others. In the case of adults it is done under anaesthetic with the permission of the person that is about to be mutilated, it is done with a scalpel and with a penis that is big enough for the surgeon to be able to at least see what he is doing. It does however not change the absolute fact that this is a mutilation of the penis.

Should circumcision be against the law?

Circumcision being the removal of the foreskin from a male is far from illegal. Depending on the region of the world, it may be the norm. In the past decades the popularity of circumcision has waxed and waned periodically. Currently, the practice of elective circumcisions is decreasing, but there is evidence that the practice is beginning to make a comeback, largely due to the fact that it decreases the incidence of particular diseases including HIV. On the other hand "circumcision" of a female, which isn't really a circumcision at all, is generally considered genital mutilation, and is generally illegal.

Are Hindu children circumcised at birth?

in Hinduism itself there is no specific note that says that boys should be circumcised i have almost 30 Hindu friends and none are circumcised. however in Asia where Hinduism is more prominent cultural many young boys are circumcised so circumcision in Hindus is more cultural than the actual law of the religion. I had a Hindu friend from schooldays who was circumcised as an infant on the advice of a Hindu priest because the priest said that the presence of the foreskin would bring bad luck to him later in life. That was the only instance where I heard of a Hindu circumcision. Hindus generally do not circumcise.

Is it true that most boy scouts are circumcised like you?

Circumcision is usually a choice made by the parents of the boy though some adult men get circumcised later in life. Most have their son circumcised for cleanliness reasons or because of their religion. Not everyone is circumcised and it is definitely not something group based like boy scouts. I'm sure there are boys in your group who still have their foreskin.
