I have a 92 Park Ave with a 3.8 engine. I suspect it is similar. The thermostat is located on the engine in a small housing. The main hose from the radiator supplies the coolant to it. Two bolts attach it to the engine block. Drain the radiator fluid before starting the removal. Then remove the radiator hose which will make it easier to get it out. Remove the two bolts and lift the housing off the block. The thermostat will be quite visible and easy to remove. Remember the orientation so the the new one will be installed properly. Although I don't think it is possible to install it upside down . Use a new gasket with proper gasket cement to install the new one . Attach the hose and refill the radiator when done.
