It starts out with the dealer dealing 5 cards to each player. Before seeing their cards, everybody puts in theante. This is an amount of chips that is decided before the round and may be changed any time during play. Then everybody is allowed to pick up their cards. The betting starts with the player to the dealer's left. Anybody who hasn't put anything in yet must put in 20 chips to call and the original bettor or anyone who called must put in 10 more to match 20.
