That term is used more in commercial doors than residential. It helps the door supplier to get the key side of the lock on the right side. If you remember that most doors swing into the room, place your backside (your butt) at the hinges, which ever arm matches the swing of the door determines the swing.

If the door swings out of the room, (reverse of normal) then this swing determining method is the same but then a Right becomes a LH reverse. Confusing, I know. See the link.

How do you open Sharper Image U-video camera's battery compartment?

The battery door is at the bottom of the camera just below the little box (front) with THE SHARPER IMAGEin it ,and opens easily ...if you know the trick. (The tripod mount is in the bottom of the door.) using your thumb, press down on the tripod screw hole and push on the door from the front of the camera toward the rear and the door pops open. Reverse the procedure to close.

How do you level and plumb a sliding glass door?

The question is a little confusing. If the floor is level you just put the bottom of the sliding glass door track on the floor. With the stationary section of glass in place the one side of the door should now be quite plumb and all you have to do is attach that part of the frame to the house. On the other hand, if you are asking about a door that is already installed and are wanting to plumb the slider, there should be two screws near the bottom of the door sides and two screws near the top. In order to turn the bottom screws it may be necessary to relieve pressure from the top screws and slightly lift the bottom of the door. Adjust the door so that it is parallel to either the stationary glass or the side frame, whichever side has the locking mechanism. LEVEL equalls left to right.....so place door in a bed of silicone greater than the amount the existing floor is out and shim the appropriate side up until the top of door from left to right is level PLUMB is vertical....... top to bottom and left to right with in one side of the jamb;;;jamb must be plumb in both direction and on both sides of jamb within a straight lin of itself for it to be SQUARE....

What are handed doors?

I assume you are referring to left or right handed doors. This is the swing of the door. If you put your back to the hinged side frame of a door and the swing is to the left than it is a left handed door. With your back to the hinged side of the frame and it swings to your right side than it is a right handed door.

Why do microwave doors open from the right?

Because most people are right-handed. The hinge is on the left - so we open the door with our left hand, and use the right hand to remove the food.

When did determining a right hand or left hand doors swing change or reverse?

For residential the rule of thumb is, with your butt at the door hinge, which hand touches the door? Left hand, its a left hand door. For exterior doors, you have to tell the door supplier if it is an open out door so they can get the threshold right and add hinges with non-removable pins. It gets a little tricky on commercial applications where you have to factor in whether the door opens into the room or out of it. "Left hand reverse" ect.

How do you tell a right or left hand sliding patio door?

There's a "butt to butt" method that I SHOULD remember, considering I sold doors for six years... But there's an even easier method: Go to whichever side of the door you can see the hinges on--if the door's inswing like most of them are, that's inside of your house. If the hinges are on the left side it's a left-hand door; if they're on the right side it's a right-hand door. From the other side of the door, go by where the knob is. The easiest method to identify door swing is to simply pretend you are the hinge. It doesn't matter if the door opens in or out, or if the hinges are on the right or left. One side of the hinge is attached to the door (and swings with the door). The other side of the hinge is attached to the door jamb and does not swing. Simply put your hands together in front of you and swing the hand that would be attached to the door. If you swing your right, it's an RH door - if you swing your left, it's a LH door.

Explain clearly why a boy driving a car with his girl friend seated next to him obtains more enjoyment from sharp right-hand turns than from turns to the left?

This is because a right handed turn causes his girlfriend to move towards him (the driver) due to centrifugal acceleration. Left handed turns will push her closer to her door, or away from her boyfriend. Depending on the distance that separates the boy and his girlfriend depends on his enjoyment factor. Therefore, since right handed turns make his girlfriend closer to him, he enjoys them more.

What is a left hand reverse door?

Left and right hand identify the direction you want your replacement or new door to swing. Let's only deal with doors that swing into the room for now. To identify whether you have a left or right, place your butt against the hinges of the door. Now use one arm or the other to reach for the handle of the door. Which ever arm you used , let's say your left... you have a left hand door.
