The alternator is irrelevant to the starter.... if you have an electric starter, it's fed from the battery directly... which kinda makes sense, seeing as the alternator only produces power when the engine is running.
Get a digital multimeter... set it to measure voltage. Put the black contact on a good ground point, and put the red contact to the stud on the back of the alternator. You should see 13.8 to 14.3 volts.
How do you change the starter on a 1987 virago motorcycle
very carefully
Which connects starter motor and the battery temporary to get sufficient power to starter motor.
a motorcycle starter. lol
About 85 amps for an average import motorcycle. Closer to twice that for a Harley-Davidson.
Basically motorcycle starter motor spark up the engine initially but you can start up even without starter motor. 0nce you're rolling at a reasonable pace, release the clutch so that the spinning rear wheel begins to turn the engine over. This is exactly the same as using the starter motor, except you're using the momentum of the bike instead of the battery.
under the seat, connected to battery
PMG permanent magnet generator is used for excitation or rotor in altrnator
It is fairly easy if you study the Motorcycle handbook and they also have Motorcycle Practice Tests online to help you through it. If needed you can also purchase 50 or 100 study test questions.
There are companies that specialise in picking and pulling of parts from vehicles. Autozone is a store online that will have starters for a motorcycle. Napa is also an option to look into.
There are 2 ways, you can start a motorcycle. The best is to have the gear in neutral either after your last ride or before you press the starter button. Then all you have to do is turn the key, make sure the fuel tap is on and press the starter button to start the engine. Or if your motorcycle is in first gear already, squeeze the clutch handle in, to disengage the clutch and press the starter button. Only start to release the clutch, as you start to ride.
