To adjust the clutch :
- without the engine running , put your transmission in 1st gear
- GENTLY , with your foot , pull the clutch pedal UP until it stops moving
- SLOWLY push the clutch pedal DOWN all the way ( if you hear a click the clutch needed adjusting and has adjusted itself )

If it has a hydraulic clutch, I believe they can not be adjusted. When the pedal travel is no longer acceptable the clutch disc must be replaced.
Its self ajusting! all you do is pull the peddle up and press it down

The 1996 Ford Escort had a self-adjusting system. If pushing on the pedal will not solve the problem, you are most likely going to need to change the ratchet system in the pedal.

Actually , the clutch on a 1996 Ford Mustang is not hydraulic , it is operated by a cable so there isn't any clutch fluid
on the firewall under the clutch pedal, It is actually a switch
these new clutches dont really have an adjustment per se but you can adjust the pedal travel to gain some time before replacement is necessary. At the floorboard where the clutch pedal is connected to the master cylinder there is a long threaded bolt through a bracket with 2 nuts on it.Move the nuts toward the end of the bolt and you will activate the clutch earlier in the pedal push. This is only for temporary help, it may not help at all depending on the condition of the clutch disk, be prepared to replace it very soon.
