How are airsoft guns dangerous or a bad influence for a 12 year old?

You are asking for opinion. My opinion? AirSoft guns are not especially dangerous- they were not made to be a weapon. While anything CAN be a weapon (ever been poked with a spork?) the ammo and speed of an AirSoft tend to be much safer than BB guns or pellet rifle that fire metal projectiles (Airsoft uses a plastic BB that is a different size than metal BBs). Bad influence? Well, it is a lifeless object- pretty hard for it to influence anyone. Learning to use any type of gun properly does teach patience, ability to follow directions, coordination, judgement- and it gets you the heck out of the house and outdoors for a while.

a bb or airsoft gun is never dangerous until it is used. then it is determined to be dangerous or not depending on the person! An average 12 year old will probably be encouraged by his/her friends to get one but if he understands that they can be dangerous if used incorrectly and that it is a big responsibility then im sure he will be fine.
