How are china and mesopotomia alike?

Well, they both gone a head start on civilization because of good rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates in Mesopotamia (in fact the name "mesopotamia" means "the land between the rivers") and the Yellow and Yangtse in China.

Rivers are the essential first step in civilization because they provide four essentials for lots of people living in a relatively small area: 1) water to drink, 2) water for agriculture, 3) water for transport and 4) water for sewage removal.

Besides Mesopotamia and China, rivers birthed Egypt (the Nile), India (the Indus and Ganges) and Rome (the Tiber).

The next step is lots of shoreline, either as peninsulas or islands (Italy, Greece, Japan, Britain, Crete, Western Europe).
