while soldiers are not quartered (housed ) in citizens' homes nowadays, this amendment reminds the government to respect the privacy of peoples' homes(The British government housed soldiers in citizens' homes without permission.)

The 3rd amendment was meant to protect citizens from the government. Back then, quartering soldiers meant that the government wanted to keep a close eye on you, so you don't challenge the government. It is important for us to keep our freedom.
The 3rd Amendment prohibits the forceful quartering of soldiers in a private residence without the owner's consent during peacetime. This was in response to the British Quartering Acts of the late 1700s and does not have much bearing on modern life. It is the only Amendment that has never been used as a primary basis of a Supreme Court decision.
